About ASCE UPRMThe American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), founded in 1852, is the oldest professional engineering society in the United States which seeks to promote the professions of Civil Engineering and Surveying, to face the challenges of the world. Our Student Chapter, founded in 1949, at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, has become one of the largest associations of this prestigious University. It has more than 200 members and 76 years of history. Our Chapter provides students with the best opportunities for professional and personal development which will turn them into the future leaders that the world needs. Always fostering the importance of learning about infrastructure, sustainable, and resilient development, promoting leadership, creativity, entrepreneurship, and teamwork in our daily lives through a variety of opportunities such as outreach and service committees, industry networking events and special projects.
