CONCRETE CANOEThe ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition provides Civil Engineering students an opportunity to gain hands-on, practical experience and leadership skills by working with concrete mix designs and project management. The goal of this competition is to create a water-worthy canoe and race against other teams with it.

Construction Institute Student Symposium CompetitionIt's time to put your skills as an engineer into action! Develop your skills as a leader by participating in a challenge project, in which you will gain experience in construction engineering. In the ASCE Construction Institute Student Symposium Competition, the team must prepare and present a construction plan as a proposal, before a jury, to be awarded a local construction project.

Timber-Strong Design Build CompetitionPut your creative design and construction skills and abilities in practice! This competition seeks student teams to design and build an artistically creative 2-story wood light-framed building that is sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and structurally durable. Then, each team will conclude with a final presentation (including a display board).

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the oldest national professional engineering society in the United States. Our chapter at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM) counts with more than 200 members, making it one of the largest student chapters in the country, and the largest in our Civil Engineering and Surverying Department.
